“UNTO YOU
THEREFORE WHICH BELIEVE HE IS PRECIOUS”
(1 Peter 2:7)
It is
impossible for those who believe in Christ to fully express the preciousness of Him to them. (1) He is precious
to every believer because He is their life.
“He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 John 5:12). (2) He is precious
to every believer because He is their clothing.
The best robe that the Father
gives or imputes to every son that He receives is the righteousness of
Christ. It is the robe of His spinning
by His perfect obedience and sacrifice.
(3) He is precious to every
believer because He is their food. Just
as the Israel of old feasted on the Paschal Lamb so God’s spiritual Israel
feasts on the Lamb of God. We
continually feast upon his flesh and drink His blood; we continually look to
His one sacrifice that atones for all the sins of His elect. (4) He is precious
to every believer for He is our hiding place. In the storms of life we say with the
psalmist: “yea, in the shadow of thy
wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be over past” (Psalm
57:2). David Pledger

FOUND
IN HIM – PHILIPPIANS 3
Here are the words of a man who called himself the chief of sinners. This was
not a false claim - he truly felt it and desired to be found in Christ. He had
found life in Christ, both spiritual and eternal. He had found righteousness in
Christ and counted his own as “dung”.
Speaking for myself, I want to be
found in Christ. I want to be found in Him while I live - for Him to be my life,
and when I die... Oh! To be found in Him - to depart and be with Christ. What a
blessed desire! To be found in Him at the judgment! To hear the infinite,
thrice Holy God say, “Enter into the joy of the Lord forever - welcome my
beloved - welcome my son, my child. Oh! To be found in Him! Are you in Christ?
Do you desire to be found in Him? Donnie Bell

GOD’S MARVELOUS WORD
Our
faith rests entirely upon the Word of God. If it could ever be proven that the
Bible is not the inspired, inerrant Word of God, then the gospel of Christ
would be proven false. But the infidel, though he may scoff, cannot ever
produce such proof. The fact that the Bible stands today shatters every
argument of those skeptics who deny that the Bible is the Word of God. The best
proof that the Bible is the inspired Word of God is the inspired Word of God.
This blessed Book is the greatest
standing miracle in the world today. Just think of this – there was never an
order given to any man to plan the writing of this Volume. Nor was there any
concerted effort on the part of men to write it. Under the sovereign direction
of the Holy Spirit, the Bible gradually developed over a period of 1600 years.
Little by little, part by part, century by century, it came out in parts and
fragments, written on two continents, in countries hundreds of miles apart. It
was written in three languages, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. And it was written
by scores of men, from every possible background variation. Yet, it stands as
one unified Volume.
This is a Book with one message. It
contains one system of doctrine, one plan of salvation, one principle of
conduct, and one rule of faith. The one message of the Bible is that of
redemption by the shed blood of Christ. Substitution is stamped upon every
page. Everything in the Bible points to Jesus Christ and his substitutionary
work.
There are historical statements in the
Bible that could not have been known except by revelation - The Account of
Creation – The Decrees of God – The Covenant of Grace. And there are doctrines
taught in the Bible which no human mind ever devised – The Character of the
Triune God – The Incarnation of Christ – Substitutionary Atonement. Add to this
the perfect accuracy of the prophecies of the Bible and their evident
fulfillment. And I say there can be but one rational explanation for the
existence of this Divine Book – “All scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). “For the prophecy came
not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were
moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:21). Without question, this is the Word
of God. Don Fortner

For there is one God, and one mediator between
God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (1Timothy
2:5)
I
must approach unto God by Christ Jesus because I am unholy, God must approach
unto me by Christ Jesus because HE IS HOLY. In Christ Jesus, I, a poor sinner,
and God, a Holy Heavenly Father, have an honest and sincere communion one with
another. His holiness is not violated and my sin is not imputed but all is
washed away. Oh, sweet fellowship! O, holy union! Oh, easy walk! Oh, joyous
friendship! Oh happy me! (1John1;7). Bruce

SHARON AND
THE VALLEY OF ACHOR
“And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of
Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my
servants shall dwell there. And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the
valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have
sought me” (Is 65: 9-10).
Christ is the Seed that came out of Jacob and Judah, the
Inheritor of God’s mountains. His elect are
joint heirs with Christ.
“Sharon shall be a fold of flocks.” Sharon was a fruitful plain where the shepherds
raised their flocks. Christ sent Peter
with the gospel to Sharon. By the Holy
Spirit “all that dwelt at Sharon turned to the Lord.” (Acts 9: 35) Wherever our
great Shepherd folds his flocks together under the preaching of the gospel it
is Sharon. In the end all God’s people
shall be folded together in heavenly Sharon.
“The valley of
Achor is a place for the herds to lie down in.” This is
the door of hope found in Hos 2:15. Every
believer has eternal rest in Christ our “door of hope.” He is the place where all the sheep lie down
and rest from all our works. This valley
was the first ground the children of Israel stepped foot on when they crossed
Jordan into Canaan. Brethren, our rest in Christ now is a foretaste of our
heavenly inheritance in the future. By
the same power by which Christ regenerated us to life we shall enter our
eternal rest with Christ.
God says this
shall be “for my people that have sought me.” Are you one God has graciously made to seek
him? If so God gives this assurance, “Mine elect shall inherit it”; “my
servants shall dwell there”; this is “for my people who have sought me.”
