CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Ephesians 5: 5: For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6: Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7: Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8: For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10: Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Every regenerate child of God is now light in the Lord. Once, there was no difference in us than any other child of darkness. The difference is that which God made by his grace. (Eph 2: 2-3)  We were whoremongers. But God shed his blood and renewed us making us chaste virgins in Christ.  (2 Cor 11: 2) We were unclean. But God washed us from all our sins in his precious blood. (1 Ki 7: 23; 2 Chr 4: 2) We were covetous. But God made us content when he made Christ our All and in all. (Heb 13: 5-6)  We were idolaters. But God made us willing to worship the true and living God in Christ Jesus.  We were children of disobedience. But God sent the gospel and cast down our vain reasoning, bringing us to trust Christ’s obedience for salvation. (2 Cor 10: 5)

Oh, how great is unchangeable grace and love in Christ Jesus. “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord.” (Eph 5: 8) Now, we have Christ our Light. (Mal 4: 2) The eyes of our understanding were once darkened but now they are enlightened by the Light of Christ dwelling in us. Believer, Christ’s light shall never be taken from us. “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light.” (Jn 8: 12)
